Union County DMV suggestions?
Does anyone know the least painful location to get your Driver's License renewed? I must go today and am dreading it.
Just think...I guess I had better get used to it since this will be the future of Healthcare...UGH.

When I moved here 5 yrs ago the first DMV I went to was in Monroe off Independence...I thought I had just entered Mayberry RFD. Old school and slow...
I go to the Independence location near the Hendricks Lexus dealer, a little faster (still slow) but stay away from end of month. just because your auto is titled in Union doesn't mean you have to go to DMV in Union, can go to Meck county DMV.

I have heard the DMV in Monroe has become much better lately, but I've never had much success there. Sometimes I've been told the wait is 3 hours or more.
I drive a bit more, but never had a wait more than 30 minutes at the Polkton, NC DMV office.

FWIW you can make an appt in advance (usually several weeks out).
Then when you show up for your appt you are in and out in 15 minutes.
Avoid the utter frustration, plan ahead

I walked into the Monroe Office with the intent of getting an ID because I hadn't studied for the test and needed the ID for a job. My NJ license didn't have a photo on it! Well, I ended up taking the driving test on the computer -passed with an 87 and was out of the place, license in hand in less than a half hour. BTW, I went around 12:30 and the place was practically deserted! Give it a try Robin, you might just luck out!

Hummmm! Massive residential construction over in UC and the economy tanking..... no wait at the DMV. There's something to be said for less people moving in to UC.

I went on Thursday to the Monroe office, and had my NC license in about 45 minutes. Not a bad experience, the people there were friendly and efficient. I was sweating the test a bit but the questions weren't as obscure as I expected.
On Friday I went to the title/registration place, also in Monroe, not nearly as pleasant. NC contracts this task out and it really shows.
Bottom line is I have a shiny new NC drivers license and tags, so I guess we're not going back to Maryland!
PS: And no, I don't have a job. I don't need no steeeking job!!
Me retire-ded
