I'm thinking Mert's Heart & Soul for lunch! It is located uptown at 214 N. College Street. I love the fried chicken & mac & cheese. Here is the web site so you can look at the menu:

Have fun!

I'll second Mert's. I like their shrimp and grits. Their cornbread is excellent as well. They give it to you before each meal.

I went to Mert's two weekends ago. It was good but not great. Clearly a very popular spot though. Admittedly, the collard greens were much better than I am accustomed to being served while dining out. Don't know if this is typical but seemed to be quite a few tourists present who were advised that they "had" to visit Mert's. It was a Saturday evening.
