I spotted a note on another board that the bridge is finally open on Cuthbertson Road in Waxhaw. All you who live in Lawson, the detour is OVER!

I was there at noon today and it was closed. There was a crew and a backhoe on the Lowe's side of the bridge digging in or around the road.

I did go around the barricades Sunday and crossed the bridge in my truck. The lines are painted, the bridge appears finished, don't know why it was closed at noon today.

The note I saw was posted at 1:30 PM and the poster said she saw them picking up the barricades, so she drove on through. Maybe they were doing some last-minute clean-up.

I'll bet you are correct. I was in a meeting tonight and it was announced as open for business today.

Just wait until you get a couple of dozen buses and hundreds of SUV/minivan driving parents heading to the schools. Those roads are going to look very narrow.

No plans in the works as far as I know.

I heard they found a crack in the structure. It must be torn down and rebuilt.

Cuthbertson has already been widened 2ft on both sides. They did it in the fall I think.
