I figure that the Dallas Ingles must have put just enough pressure on them that they cleaned the place up. In the long haul, they seem to dovetail, although Lowes is higher. Ingles is doing the heavy damage to Food Lion. The 2 FL stores in Kings Mountain are bad & worse. Apparently the Ingles grocery store in Bessemer City wasn't bothering anyone, but the 2 supermarkets are crushing the Food Lions in Kings Mountain & Gastonia.
I mostly run between Ingles & Aldi. Now if Trader Joe's would just open a store out here. . .

Wouldn't it be, though? I guess that Gastonia would be the logical choice since it would be central to all of us.
Never the less, within the month I'll go to South Charlotte to the Rea road Trader Joe's.

Y'know, I don't think it's us. Honestly, excepting really good Italian sausage, I think I've run down about everything else that I could want.
On the other hand, I started out in Michigan & some of my cooking is darned similar to local food, minus the deep-frying. (On the other hand, Boscov's did sell deepfryers for turkey in the South Jersey stores.)
I think we keep getting on the topic as a reaction to a certain chain of grocery stores. I don't need to patronize them & don't.

RE: NY/NJ Transplants
I'm not one yet but I hope to be one soon (12 - 18 months). I live in Queens County, NYC. I've been researching NC for the past month and I hope to head down there for the first of several trips in November. While most of my research has focused around the Raleigh area, I have an ex-colleague that lives in the Charlotte area and loves it.
I'm married with two young kids (2 and 6) so school is important. I"m also looking for an area that is near Charlotte but with a little bit of a rural feel. What areas can you recommend?

I thought you didn't want to move to an area with high taxes? Conservatives or at least so called conservatives since conservatism can be a debate dating back to theories at times can be hypocrites , giving high marks to states
such as north Carolina even though its high tax, a lot of new yorkers have moved to NC, the bloom has come off it to somewhat, well to a large extent, although its no Michigan.
Everybody can love a place, oh someone loves new jersey or new york or Suffolk, that doesn't necessarily mean that you'll like it or that those who don't like it are doing something wrong as you suggested.
Whether or not transplants have changed NC 's tax and economic politics is debatable, I don't go around blaming, but with a lot of attitudes out there, there can be some blame, on the other NC has had high state income taxes for years and just raised them.

School's important, you mean public schools, well I often say this not just to one person but to a lot of people, sometimes education rests with the
student and his/her parent.
There are many students who do well in "bad" schools where the students slack off, often times half the students may do well and others slack off, of course I personally do not always blame the student because the school's administration and structure may not be the best conducive way to learn and atleast learn the necessary information.
Why don't you follow that or send you child to private school, oh wait, its hardly conservative of you to support or to be looking for public schools, another example of bias, (most conservatives states don't want to invest in education anyway, although those that do may not invest the right way or right structure, former is no better).
Wait, but then NC is a bit higher taxed so the schools may be better, so yeah I like the public schools in that are of charlotte so I'll move,
Hypocrisy at its best, but clearly obvious, needless to say

tech2enable,
First, I thank you for your time and for reading my request for information.
Second, if you are not going to help, why bother responding to my inquiries? I did not mention in any post that I am "conservative". Why do you assume that? Because I want to move out of NYS, which is one of the most oppressive in terms on taxation in the US?
I come to this forum seeking the kind assistance and insight of North Carolinians (native or otherwise). I believe the quality of life here in New York for MY FAMILY has severely decreased. I am seeking a better, more fuller life in another state. My research, thus far, points to NC.

Shake it off... No idea why those posts quoted yours as they had zero to do with what you wrote. He could have saved time and space with a simple "go home yankee". Pretty sad it was so transparent.
I think the post is an indicator that you should stay cognizant of, though. There will very likely be people who will jump to similar conclusions and give you similar attitude for nothing more then where you're from. Granted it's much easier on these boards where they can hide behind an anonymous SN... but still it's something to keep in mind. Research all the angles.
