I am about to move into a house in between Eastway and Central off of Kilbourne. What part of Charlotte is this? It is also by Plaza, I was wondering if this was Plaza-Midwood. Just wondering so I know what area if Charlotte to start repping now since I am leaving my beloved University City.

I call it Sheffield Park, and I'd put it squarely in east Charlotte.

You are an east-sider. Let me know if you want some tips on setting up your fortifications.

Good luck.

Wow! Is that bad? The neighborhood didn't look that bad to me. I see you're an eastsider too. What area are you in?

I kid... and I apologize for my poor humor.

I rented a house off Southgate some time ago... I really, really loved that place. I tried to buy it, but the owner wouldn't sell and again I digress.

I know quite a few young couples who live there now. They all really like Sheffield Park. I know another guy over on Medford, and he's crazy about his place. I'd be a little concerned about elementary and middle schools over there, but other than that it's good. Never had any problems with crime while I was there, my neighbors were outgoing and friendly for the most part.

Easy bike ride down Woodland to Commonwealth and you've got all the cool places at Thomas Ave, Central and Pecan. Commute to uptown has to be a breeze. There's a neighborhood park as well. You'll find yourself a short drive from a lot of different areas.

Im a east sider but my east side is nothing like that part . That area is what we call a "helter skelter" area...When you get east of Independence on the east side the ethnic numbers explode and so does the crime. The police dep has an activity map you can see that shows where they get most of their calls in any given area of charlotte,,,check it out on the net its free.

I live there right now and I love it. It has a bad reputation due to proximity to Eastland Mall, but I have not had any crime troubles. A quick drive through (not drive-by) will reveal many young, "non-ethnic" couples walking their dogs and landscaping their yards. It is a quiet and family-friendly neighborhood. Someone mentioned crime maps - compare it to the University area and you will see very similar stats.

Welcome to the neighborhood!! Start building up your alcohol tolerance. It is required that you drag your plastic lawn chairs to the front lawn on Friday nights and drink until Sunday to the beat of Tejano music. Just kidding of course - in four years I have never seen this in Sheffield Park.

That's real good to know. I look forward to being an Eastsider, but UC will always have my heart. LOL!

I noticed from looking at this locationon a map that it is more located closer to Eastway than Central. Is eastway aprt of the Plaza-Midwood neighborhood?

Unfortunately you will not be living in Plaza Midwood, but will be able to walk to it. You should examine the unique and valuable aspects of the neighborhood itself. If your home was located in the borders of Plaza Midwood, it would not be so affordable. This does not discount the merits of your new neighborhood itself though. It is a hidden gem. The majority assume it to be an ethnic community riddled with crime. The assumptions are not true at all, but I think that many of us in the community don't try to advertise our blessings.
