I currently live in Little Rock, Arkansas and want to try to relocate to the Charlotte area by the end of September. With the down economy, how easy is it to find employment in the area? I am an IT graduate but am open to taking a lesser job temporarily as I would be living with two roommates. Second, is Charlotte gay friendly? One of my driving reasons for getting out of Little Rock is the gay community here is so small it's brutal. Any answers will be appreciated.

Yes come on over to Charlotte. Things arent that bad as they seem. Also be prepared to get many negative posts just because you stated you are gay. Watch and see!!!!!! People will talk you out of coming.

Oh good grief

I've very rarely seen anyone here post anything negative toward a gay person requesting information.

Charlotte is a friendly city - mostly family friendly, but still friendly to all who come here. There is also a definite gay community. Most people in Charlotte are pretty live and let live.

The job situation will be the problem - not to say an IT person would never find a job here right now, but it is definitely tough. However, a single person living with room mates may be able to find something to support themselves, especially if they are willing to take something less than ideal just to get started here.

Loves is correct, job market is horrible. I'd start sending your resume's out now, don't wait. Good luck.

Jobs will be hard to find, and you might get some negative posts (people have been a little testy on the board lately) BUT ignore them because MOST of us are not like that ,and welcome people from out of state regardless of sexual preferences. Also, most of us are from somewhere else and think "the more the merrier!

And I agree with Loves too, send resumes sooner rather than later...and send a lot of them.
