Which reminds me of another romantic thing to do - go to brunch at the Pancake House (Fairview Road across from Southpark Mall, behind McDonalds). This is not some chain place like IHOP - (not bashing IHOP, just love a local place). I'd say get there by 10 a.m. or the line is out the door every Saturday and Sunday because it is so good. Some might ask why this is a romantic thing to do, but for me it just is. I LOVE a BIG leisurely breakfast I didn't have to cook!

Well, maybe we should give it another shot. We went once and didn't really care for the food.
What should we order?

Last July when my daughters and I were visiting Charlotte we went to the Pancake House in Southpark and we loved it!! I know it's only breakfast, but the orange juice was so fresh and sweet, the pancakes, eggs and coffee was just great. The manager was always so friendly to us. They also offer free coffee while waiting to be seated as the lines were long. I can't wait to go back. We also received very good service.

Well I'm a single dude so I'll give you a little of what I got...only a little...
1) Dinner in University City (several affordable places), then a walk around the little lake near the Hilton. You can also do the pattle boats for pretty cheap.
2) Lunch on East Blvd. (lunch is always cheaper at those resturants there), then take a walk in Freedom Park
3) Brunch at The Pancake House in SouthEnd and then a walk in Freedom Park
4) Dinner in Birkdale on a Saturday night (pick a place with an outdoor patio) and then take a walk "down to the quite end" of the center. I know they have music out there on Saturdays, but maybe Friday's too. You'll have to check their calander.
5) Afternoon movie at the Manor Theater (little indie theater house on Providence Road) and then drinks at the Starbucks right beside it, or ice cream at the Baskin Robins just down the street.
6) Check out "any" of the upcoming festivals. I love to go to those and they're free.
This is just a sampling of my "affordable" romance menu. Let me know if you want the "high end" version, LOL.
