Oh, I agree. I think there is a definite difference with gasoline. Murphy and Hess I have heard of and used before. Great Stops it seems I go through a tank faster. (Talk about paranoid!) But it also goes to where I am at the time. I don't drive out of my way to get the cheaper gas. The two Hess stations are both by where I work. And if I need gas and am by Sheetz or Shell, I will stop there.

I have gas prices on my home page and today Murphy is at $2.37. All the others are in the middle to upper $2.40s. And to really drive you nuts they change sometimes twice a day.

There's a lot of interesting reading out there about gasoline quality. I try to universally stay away from the 10% ethanol products. They reduce engine performance and gas mileage by 1 or 2%.

The fuel tax in Virginia is $.13 cheaper than in NC, so that has a lot to do with it.

Here it also depends on what county you are in. I live in Alamance and while stations vary to the point you can get whiplash just looking, our neighboring county Orange can be ten to 15 cents higher in some stations I've seen.

Gas wars are nice when you get all the stations involved. It really helps out.

Maybe someone knows. Gas prices appear to change daily or even twice a day from what I've see. I always thought that stations have a price based on the last time they got gas when the tanker comes. If it's higher the next time then the price goes up. Lower, it goes down. Or God forbid it stayed the same. Am I living in the past where prices stayed the same for a while? Maybe. It's just something I have been curious about recently with the prices changing constantly.

This is true but I meant that Sheetz is cheaper in VA than a Texaco, Shell, etc. in VA.
