There's been a fun little gas war going on in Denver for a couple of weeks now that I've really been enjoying. Picked up my Regular unleaded today at $2.19 a gallon which I'm pretty sure is about 0.25 cents less than most other places close to Charlotte.

Just a heads up for anyone that may be traveling through Denver that it's a good time to be running on empty and fill up. Though I admit for most people this is significantly out of their normal travels.

Does NC have laws similar to VA dictating how low your gas price can go? It is designed to stop big companies like Sheetz from undercutting other stations until they go out of business.

Speaking of Sheetz, why aren't there any around here? Cheap gas and great subs.

For those of us on the South side of town, there are similar prices to be had off of I-77 Exit 82 in Rock Hill.

As far as Sheetz, they recently opened two locations along I-85 in/near Burlington. That's as far south as they've ventured into NC so far.

I live near Burlington. You're right, great subs but not so cheap gas at times. I find cheaper gas at quite a few stations around here.

There's one in Statesville now. That's about as close as it gets to us here in Charlotte. (Of course, I've been there about ten times. Yes, I'm a nerd.)

Interesting, in VA they are always cheaper other than those sketchy places like Liberty, Hess, etc.

We have four that are usually cheaper: Murphy USA, Great Stops, and two Hess/Wilcos. They are down there consistently. I don't know why but I am happy about it. Sheetz seems to be equal with all the others. And to be fair at times they have been down there with the cheaper group.

We always stop at Sheetz when we go through Virginia and they are usually the cheapest we see. Guess it depends where you go.

I never stop at any gas station if the name isn't known to me (Texaco, Shell, etc.) even if they are cheaper. Maybe it doesn't make a difference but I am still paranoid about it.
