Hi all, *waving!*

I am planning my first visit to the Charlotte area this mid-August. I will be visiting with my Aunt, Uncle, Gramma and cousins. Besides family, what should I go see in Charlotte?

I know I want to check out UNCC for the graduate school programs while I'm there, though that's off in the future a ways.

Does anyone have any recommendations, things they really loved?

Are there any city events that are going on? Like parades, flea markets, jazz festivals etc?

Thanks in advance~~!

Check out the Lake Norman area. Get off of I77 N exit 25 and take a left and go to Birkdale. That is a must.

Next stop exit 33 take a left and stop at one of those Lake Restaurants on the right. Have some lunch and watch the boats and the jetskiers.

For Dinner if you like Fish exit 36 take a left about 4 miles on your right you will see Big Daddy's.

That's my suggestion.

Sorry I forgot to say they have concerts Friday and Saturday night at Birkdale. Some Jazz some rock etc. Check the schedule.

Go online and look at Birkdale shopping. You can check the Lake Norman calendar of events too.

Go online and look at the Charlotte Observer and click on the Lake Norman area.

BIG DADDY!! I want fish!
Yes yes, I love sushi. I really, really do. I'm sure I'm addicted, but since it isn't illegal, I'm free to binge all I like....finances allowing.

Flea markets are awesome, too. My husband calls himself a "sales snob." LOL! He really loves those good deals - so do I - but I like to refurbish things. Especially wood items. There was this one garage sale out there someone was selling (for 1$!) a 1940's heavy cedar wood chest. Structurally intact, just had 60 years of paint on it and broken hinges. It's in our garage right now enjoying the fresh air, it can breathe again now and has the most beautiful wood structure and smell...

Once it becomes my coffee table, I will eat sushi on it. Ahhhhh

Wow! what a great find. I have a couple chests too that I am gong to make into coffetables when we get back. I want to make a dining room table out of an old door. Last summer I believe, Country Living Magazine had an article about a gal and she went to the Raleigh Flea Market and it showed what she bought and then what she did witht he pieces. Great article.

You need to get a new magazine called Flea Market Style, the first issue is on sale now until Aug. It's great, you'll love it.
