My sister is coming to visit & her one wish is to get really good mac-n-cheese, preferably the kind with a crusty top. Can anyone recommend a place? We're near Ballantyne but will travel about 30 minutes. Thanks in advance.

Johns Family Restaurant off of Westinghouse is kind of obscure, but the food is wonderful! He has great Mac & Cheese

That's what I'd do. I like to try the homemade mac-n-cheese whenever I see it on a menu but (gonna toot my own horn a bit) it's never as good as what I make at home...the kids and DH agree. I make it in a giant roaster pan so there is enough to eat for a few days and plenty to freeze for later.
I'd give you my recipe but I don't really have one...it's a little different each time.

Mac's Speed Shop They do have good mac n cheese! Although, crunchy on top is usually home made.

+1

I SIL makes an amazing Mac-n-Cheese with cracker crumbs and ziti.
Honestly it is the only kind I will eat.
If that sounds interesting, I'll get her recipe.
