Yes, I think I read somewhere that Chapel Hill has the highest concentration of people w/ a doctorate. You might want to check that out. I'm a little bit of a Nerd myself and would move there in a heartbeat.

I think you could be happy anywhere. There are all types of people all over Charlotte. I know you didn't mean it that way, but this thread bothers me a little because it seems dismissive and snobby. You can find like-minded people all over the world if you take the time to look. They aren't going to all live in the same neighborhood, or have the same degree (or amount of degrees).

It does kinda sound like that, I agree.

I have two Masters, you can come live by me in Union County! LOL. My husband has no degrees tho, makes more money than I ever could, and is one of the most intelligent, worldly people I've ever met

I live close to South Park rather behind Myers Park High School. I would love to meet good people with good common sense not necessarily highly educated. I am a university teacher and live her as many things are just 5 minutes drive not to speak of book stores that I love.

Just out of curiosity , do any of you dabble in string theory?
If so , do you think proof or lack thereof reduces validity of dark matter?
And , if it does/doesn't , what are your theories regarding the aforementioned effects on possible oscillating or solid state theories (if either proves true)?

I live in NoDa... lots of well-educated 20-30somethings. Less stuffy than many parts of the city, access to uptown, and a few restaurants, bars, and venues for music. For a city as young as Charlotte (in terms of development, not median age), NoDa is well on its way. Stop by and say hey!

I am more into particle theory. And the holographic principle keeps me self absorbed for hours at a time.

After living in Davidson, I would have to say that I don't think it's your best choice. It's very small, and I wouldn't call it lively enough to have the conversation/interaction you are looking for. If it's lively at all, it's more family-ish activities, and older type people walking around the one block that is downtown davidson. You'd think with the college near by, there would be some sorta hotspot.. but not really. Davidson is pretty dead.. but it's one of those things where you'd just have to go see for yourself.

Speaking of which , do you think they will find a way to utilize gravitons in daily life?
Such as planes using gravity propulsion. I had an idea for a car with ion drive , but it was deemed impractical due to length of time required to reach certain speeds.
Also I heard they were looking into plasma windows to eliminate a need for airlocks.
9 times out of 10 , they will find ways to create these devices for use as weapons of some sort , but wait until billions have been killed to bring the applications to everyday life if there's any left by then.
