I thought I would share some beautiful homes that are within a hour of charlotte 20 minutes to triad and hour and half to triangle.

this 5 bedroom , 4 full bath and 1 half bath with sun room 3 car garage 1920's home that sits on .75 acreis only $364k

Here this 4 bedroom ranch is only 95k

or this 1920's 4 bedroom with master on main floor 17x11 room home with original style 3 fireplaces and sunroom for 214k

plenty of gorgeous homes in this state on acre of land and still less than 400k but within a reasonable commute.

It is, isn't it?

But don't overlook her middle example -- the 4BR for only $95,000:

In dire need of more tasteful landscaping (and I've no idea about the neighborhood) but that's amazing for the price.

I wonder where this thread went lol you moderators got me thinking Im going wackiy. lol

All these homes are in Lexington area. I have alot of heritage from that area so Im very familiar with history and the culture.

I saw those house on market and I kinda felt sad but I dont know why they are on the market probably owners may have passed on to heaven , retired, or move to a more bustile type of lifestyle.

The 95k house is close to a former industrial area but 2 blocks from Country Club golf course.

The 214k house I have been in and it gorgeous you can feel the history of the home.
The rooms are very large 3 fireplaces and sunroom in back with detached garage.
If the owner kept the three bedrooms upstairs the color they was when I was there they was named by the color of the room The Red room , the blue room and the yellow room and boy was it yellow lol no sleeping late in that room. 2 of those rooms you can easily fit 2 queen beds in it and still have plenty of space. The Master bedroom also good size and master bath is about the size of a bedroom plenty of space and gorgeous detail.

The 364k house also alot of original 20's style even has the courtyard in the back that reminds of european garden the way hedges are cut. I always imagine someone like Paula Dean or the Sugarbaker girls of designing women in that home. I am not certain but I believe it was owned by one of relatives of a Link Furniture executive.

I started this post in another thread but was move and it ok lol but I was trying to point out that there is quality homes on half acre or more but need to be look out of a metro area.

I am by no means painting Lexington as a rosey place to live and I never thought it ever has been. But actually living there isnt bad if someone willing to commute. until I lived in charlotte area to me a 20 minute commute was a long commute, and 30 minute commute was to insane.

Benefit of commuting from this city is you can enjoy your paycheck that is on a higher scale of a larger city yet enjoy lower cost of living a large back and front yard and enjoy the established Pine, Oak, Maple and Magnolia trees.

Ideal area to retire to or raise a family not that great for someone who is single.

I think it great area if someone wants to get away from cookie cutter home on a postage stamp lot and enjoy a some what Mayberry type of living.

Do you mean Lexington, NC? We used to live in Welcome. Kind of miss Speedy's BBQ, went there over the winter for the fix.

Also, is the County still dry, all but Lexinton's city limits?

I heard Sheriff Hege was crooked, too...
