If your getting a job with the state I highly recommend to your employer about North Carolina State Employee Credit Union. You can be a member if you work for the state and they have lower interest rates on car and home loans and higher interest rate on savings, IRA and money market and you even earn interst on checking than commercial banks. Plus discount on theme park tickets.

just a tip

That's good stuff, thanks! I actually interviewed in the NC Credit Union office in downtown (or uptown?) Charlotte. They also have a something called a WE Card that offers discounts in lots of stores.

$60 for water
$175 Electric

I do not expect the bottom 2 too be that high all the time just budgeted accordingly

Gas Range, water heater, heat package & fireplace.
Two air conditioning systems

Thought I would update this 3 years on.

Water bill is usually around $30
Total of Gas & Electric usually around $175.

Have a couple of months spring and fall that the total of both is less than $75
I put the extra aside in case we have a really hot summer or really cold winter, as in the case last winter one gas bill was $165 in a really cold month, that was the execption not the norm.
