[quote=bs13690;10529629][quote=nascarnancy;10528927]LOL, I lived in Yorba Linda, we were neighbors! I loved old towne Orange.

Anywho, were you in Santa Ana during the Landers and Big Bear quakes? The Landers quake hit first 7.3 at just about 5 AM and then at 8AM the Big Bear quake hit, a 6.4! We had only lived in our house a month or two. The noise of the Landers quake woke us up before we felt it. You know you're half asleep asking yourself what that noise is and then your house gets the peejeeber's shook out of it. We have heard a few before they actually hit, just a big rumble noise.

We definatly felt the Northridge quake too, a 6.7. How did you sleep through that?

I was living on MCAS Tustin. The reason I slept through it is we were partying pretty hard the night before. I think I went to bed around 3 or something. We went to Big Bear that day and I was able to pick up a lift ticket for cheap from some people who were leaving because they had to go check on their house.

I don't remember the Landers and Big Bear quakes. I was out there from 93 - 99.
OK, Landers and Big Bear were June of 92.

Well, I guess that pretty much explains why you slept through it, LOL.

Thanks for serving.

I find the subject fascinating.

Like the weather, earthquakes are something we have no control over, so that makes it an amazing phenomena. I also like watching tropical storms and hurricanes.

Which reminds me . . . in a month, we will have the 20th anniversary of Hugo! I think that hit on 9/29/89, didn't it?

Well, I was at home in Pfafftown for the weekend & sound asleep, so it wouldn't have affected me. I'm staying in Rock Hill now instead of South Charlotte (gotta sell that house in Pfafftown/ Winston-Salem).

When I lived in Mass, there was an earthquake in Fall River, and it sounded like a train right next to the house. No damage, slight movement, but it was definitely LOUD!

Why are all you people up at 6:30 on a Saturday? Hmm guess I enjoy my sleep or stay out too long on a Friday to get up at 630 on my day off.

And if I was up, I probably wouldn't have felt it. I don't recognize things like that very well.

If I saw my water bottle start to shake I probably would have assumed a T-Rex was coming.

Earthquakes happen when the frog that is carrying the world on his back twitches.
