I thought some of y'all would find this Gaston Gazette article interesting. I have eaten food from 3 of the 5 places mentioned. There are several more in the Gaston county. I'm not sure about Mecklenburg or other counties in our area.

Fill up on gas station food (http://www.gastongazette.com/news/purists-37473-culinary-quit.html - broken link)

I've always found the Nachos + Queso an amusing choice for gas station food.
How the heck would one manage that while driving down the road?

That is when I just park outside the place and listen to XM radio while I chow down. I can only get stuff like this when I am on a road trip by myself. My wife always wants to stop somewhere like Cracker Barrel.

It comes from Heaven.

Nah, but seriously I LOVE livermush. Probably only had it 3 times in the past 5 years, for some reason I never fix it myself but grew up on the stuff. My grandad would always fry some up real early in the morning over the summers when he took me fishing.

I like Livermush but don't want to think about what is in it. Kind of like pate and hot dogs. I just know that it is good.

Oh my! That'd be a turn off.

Thanks for the link - I was too lazy to Google it meself. Sounds a little bit like Goetta, which has oats and ground meat in it, shaped into a loaf, then sliced and fried in grease.

Livermush's description sounds tastier than the name itself sounds.
