Question Infiniti G35 60,000 mile service

I called the dealer and ask how much a normal service charge was for my G35 and the reply was $900-$1400 @60,000 miles. Has anyone had thier G35 serviced and what was the charge? Does this sound too high? It does to me.

I know nothing of Infinitis, but do know engines/maintenance/cars.

Has it been regularly serviced and do you have records?
Does the maintenance/service book in the glove box list 60K as a MAJOR service?
If so, what are they listing as items needing attention?

Pfft im sorry with my cars they get no service unless they need it. I have 110k miles on my car and I never had a problem with it although I did change the serpentine belt at 60k and replaced the brakes at about every 40k though.

From my experience, with my Subaru, the dealer wants to do more than what the manufacturer suggests. I only do what the Manufacturer suggest. Dealers want to make more money. Get dealer pricing and non dealer quotes. Some shops will have a 60k checkup thats is most likely half of what a dealer charges.

Have a G35 as well...only a few thousand miles at the moment, but the salesperson at the dealer basically said to just get the oil changed and should be fine for a while. Not sure about 60K, but at Charlotte Infiniti, I remember there being different levels of service that you could get pre-pay for, or pay as you go. We opted not to get the service, now just have to take it to get the oil changed as we just passed 3K miles.

Are you talking to LKN or Charlotte? Was very happy with the experience at Charlotte Infiniti, though haven't been to their service dept. Looks nice, though.

$900-1400 does sound expensive. We got the pre-paid maintenance package for our Lexus (every 5K miles, I think) and I don't think it was that much total. Doesn't seem like there should be much that needs to be done besides oil change, rotate tires and maybe a filter or two.

There is usually a mileage time frame for changing different fluids. I am not sure what they are off hand. I think coolant is suggested every 30k miles as it can become acidic and eat through the gaskets of the cooling system. You can probably search online for your models recommended mileage. Some cars go longer than 3000 miles between an oil change. You might want to check that out too. My wifes civic has a sensor that shows oil wear. I think she replaces it once it gets to around 60% which usually takes longer than 3000 miles but then she doesnt drive in bad traffic.

Check your owner's manual, it should detail what needs to be done at 60K. List the things that are suggested and that interval and we can give you a better idea if $900+ is too much. Bottom line, dealer shop fees are almost always higher than a "normal" service station/garage. Shop around...

Indeed. Please read your owners manual as that is the guide for what you need to do to your car at any given mileage. In addition, I wouild not go to a dealer for routine maintenance unless it was free or you needed warranty work done. I have yet to see a dealer in Charlotte that does better work than most independent garages and they charge far far more.

Note: This statement does not include serious repair work. For that you will have to judge whether it is worth having a dealer do it or not.

I have a G35 and did the 60k service myself. The only special thing you need to do at 60k (and every 30k) is to change the diff fluid. It's pretty easy to do yourself. A shop will charge about $80-$100.

You may need to change your belts, but that should be less than $300. I don't really know since I do most of my own work.

You might want to check out https://secure.infinitiusa.com/iapps/ownership/login. They may have a maintenance schedule once you get a profile setup.
