Confused & need help!
Ok here is the deal..........
I am an assistant principal for a high school in NY (I hate it here). I have two master degrees one in general education and the other in school administration. I hold 5 NY certifications and 2 certifications in FL.
I was considering moving to Florida but a friend just moved to Wesley Chapel, NC. He loves it. I have two small boys ages 8 & 7 and am looking for a great place for them to grow up.
Here is the questions..........
1. Would I love the Wesley Chapel area (I want to be near an airport)? I am looking for about a 3,000sq ft home in an nice area with good schools.
2. How much are property taxes for a house this size? In NY that house would be 20k per year.
3. If I moved without having a job (yes I hate NY that much) would I have trouble finding one?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to respond or PM me.
Thank you.

I just moved to Waxhaw (very close to Wesley Chapel) 4 weeks ago from FL. I have lived in FL all my life, and although I liked it there, I do not miss it. I am a teacher. I don't think you would have trouble finding a job in either NC or FL, though I am not sure what area of FL you are considering. I lived in Broward County & I can tell you what you might spend on a house there as compared to NC. A 3000 square foot home in South FL in a nice area with good schools could run anywhere from $500K - $700K or you can easily spend over a million if you wanted to! $500K would probably be a great deal on a home with your specifications there (might expect to spend more). You would pay anywhere from $10k - $14K in property taxes and homeowner's insurance would be outrageous (that could be another 10K/yr). In Union County, you can buy a very nice home for the same price or much less. If you spent $500K on a home there, your property taxes might be anywhere between $3300 and $4900 and homeowner's insurance is MUCH cheaper. I think salaries are similar between the 2 states, but in FL there is no state income tax. I don't know what the impact of paying state taxes will be on me here yet....

now is the time to think of reducing what the state gets by holding on about all receipts and try to earn as much credit you can that is allowed. I got a 2 dollar refund from state so I was happy lol

This is what Mecklenburg has, you can also search Union County NC some of the other surrounding counties, Cabarrus, etc... Good luck!
