What would a cook (of very simple breakfast/lunch items...we're talking omelettes, french toast, eggs benedict, paninis, salads) expect to make in Charlotte? Hourly or Salary. Also, what would a waitress expect to make hourly?

in arizona, yes, a waitress makes 2.35 plus tips. the idea is that, with tips you will make at least minimum wage. and if you don't, the company is suppose to give you the difference. But, I grew up in Oregon, and noone can make less than minimum wage there. even if you make tips. i have no idea what minimum wage is in oregon right now. but when i left oregon about 7 years ago i had friends who were waitresses and none of them made less than $8/hr. so that is why i posted the question. i wanted to know the norm for nc.

thank you

It was raised as well on January 1st to 3.15 in north carolina for servers and Im sure it depends on where you are working on the type of salary you get so Im not questioning 7 to 8 isnt possible but that tends to go to those with experience and with the demographics of this area there plenty of workers who will do that work for just minimum wage.
