Good question. There’s a lot of this person’s original post that doesn’t make sense. They say they moved here only four months ago. So the questions are…
1. How did they get a place to live without a job, regardless if it’s an apartment or house?
2. Why would they move without a job offer in hand given the state of the economy nationally at that time, and the fact that Charlotte had double digit unemployment then?

The OP said that they moved here under unique circumstances. Having no evidence to the contrary I took their statement at face value. I think paranoia runs a little wild around here sometimes.

I thought they went on to explain the unique circumstances? Such as meeting the friend online…there just happened to be a place to live next door to the friend…and they just happened to be in the process of closing their business...so given all that, the OP decided to move here.
You know, this board gets lot of first time posters. Typically they want help with certain things. But that wasn’t what this person wanted. They haven’t asked for help at all, or asked for any type of information. In fact, I don’t know what the purpose of their original post was at all…or perhaps I do.

My reading comphrension skills are in the crapper today. I see now that they did explain the circumstances. You might know better than I if this is a troller but I will say that these things happen more than one would think.
I assumed they were looking for tips on where/how to find a job. Maybe I am just a trusting fool.
I'm waiting for the followup and a foreign address where we send our bank information.
