I think it depends..I use my cell phone but I am a pretty aware (almost to aware) driver. I think screaming kids and other things also have an impact. I don't like when ppl can't drive and use a cell phone and swerve, go slow, inconsitent. I think it also depends on the road and conditions.

I just came home from the airport and need to vent. I LOVE Charlotte, I love everything about it. I would never live anywhere else. But driving here just plain SUCKS. The traffic is bad , the signage is horrendous and the drivers are downright dangerous! aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrgghhhhhhhhh

I think the smoke was from the wild fires to our south. I have been traveling alot for the past 3.5 months. I am amazed at the smog cloud that you can see from a distance over our city. Driving in from 77 or 85 in any direction on a clear day is a real eye opener!

I am going to have to disagree with this statement, no matter how careful you think you are driving while on a cell phone, it is too distracting to be paying full attention to the road and the unfortunate part is other peoples lives are at risk!

I for one have had two fender benders in a year and many cars screeching behind me with near misses and as I look up theres the phone to the ear!

NC does not have any laws to prohibit this but action should be taken and soon because the roads are conjested enough without having people on the phone while driving and not paying attention to the road. Kids are distracting as well but you pick up the phone to chat by choice. A choice that can have dire consequences.

This is by no means against you, it has to do with everyone who picks up the phone to chat while driving, and I am not talking at the occasional car chatter sometimes you need to make or take a call I am talking about people who use there cars like an office and think, I'm driving now time to make a call...there are many people out there like that. I know a few and they chuckle while they say "driving is the only time I have time to chat on the phone" Thats crap people....think about what you are doing...

Well then I guess reading should be (seen that one), kids should be, tv/dvds, makeup and a myriad of other things. I am not offended that you think that way, I do too..I can't stand when someone is chatting and not driving consistently, drives me mad (no pun intended)

I am not conducting business in the car, when I have a passenger we talk..I haven't had an accident in almost 10 yrs and I didn't even own a cell at the time lol..I am more concerned about the other drivers than myself.

I think that most ppl do not drive defensively enough, they pay attention to themselves and what they are doing and not the car in front of them, around or across from them. So many accidents could be avoided if everyone paid more attention in general.

Too much general disregard for human life, speeding, cutting someone off, tailgating, running through the tailend of a yellow light or my fav sitting in the intersection until it turns red and then turning...traffic is a pet peeve of mine. I don't think traffic is that bad here but I have lived outside of DC and hte Capitol beltway is horrendous along with I95 around that area.

Charlotte might get to be that way,the problem here is that there are so many small roads that just can't handle the traffic volume but no one seems to want to remedy that situation in the Charlotte area.
