Repairing laminate countertops?
We're getting ready to list our house and one of the things that needs to be repaired is the countertops. They are beige laminate. The tops of the counters are fine. There are some small scratches (about 1 1/2" of very fine scratch marks) on the front of one. And there are 2 gouges (1 about 1/2" wide- obvious, and the other 1/4" not so obvious) on the fronts where the top edge meets the front. One of them is from a button on my clothes getting snagged and it pulled out a little hunk of the laminate. Is there any way to repair this, short of replacing all of it?
This is a 9 yr old starter home that we are going to be asking bottom line price for so we don't want to put any significant amount of money into it.
Ok, I'm headed back to the kitchen to continue clearing everything out!
Thanks!

If the house is priced at the bottom then this shouldn't be a problem. If someone loves your house and brings it up suggest that you will give them a small pre-determined at the closing.

I agree with pink caddy. It is a non issue on someone making an offer (or price, if it's priced correctly). If the potential buyer brings it up at contract time, negotiate from that point in time.
Best wishes on a speedy sale!

There nothing that will fix the scratches. The laminate it's self can be replaced if the scratches do bother you. I have replaced several it's not that to bad money wise.

I think I would leave them as is and wait and see if anyone mentions it. Just make sure the kitchen otherwise is as close as new looking as possible in that it is extremely clean and remove all customizations, nicknacks, excessive wall hangings, stuff on the fridge, etc. Try repainting the kitchen in a neutral color, even if it is the same color that was there. It's a pretty cheap way to take interest away from the counters.
