I guess I just don't have enough information to form a real opinion. I mean, I wouldn't kill for my TV...or really anything that's replacable....but I don't know what these thugs stole.

Like I said, it's a very sad situation and I suspect (though I don't know) that even the victim might have second thoughts about ending a 15 year old life.
In that situation you don't khow if that is a 15 year old. Your mind is in shock.

It is a sad day whenever a 15 year old dies for any reason. It is even worse when that 15 year old dies because he made a stupid mistake that cost him his life. It is also sad that a hard-working, honest, elderly couple can not live in peace, not worrying about their possessions or well-being because of some punk.

I am glad the old man didn't get charged. Hopefully this thug's "friends" will think twice before they try to rip off another unsuspecting victim.

The suit could also be reversed and slapped on his parrents. They are still legally liable for there sons actions.

While it's tragic that he was only 15, I feel that's the only tragic thing. He did more than just do something stupid, he beat up and tied two elderly people. And had a loaded gun. It's hard to feel sympathy for that.

Chalk when up for common sense! Looks like they will not be filing charges against the 76 yr old who shot the 15 yr old after he and his friends broke into the older man's home. I'm sure most of you know the details. I've been waiting for this decision and hope that the gentleman and his wife can now go on with their lives and be LEFT ALONE.
Sorry, I don't see any common sense in this decision. He wasn't defending himself.

This is not true. I thought the latest report was that the assailants weren't even in a car. They were walking down the street

Not so sure if he'll be "left alone" now as our fine NC senate/house have yet to pass a Castle Doctrine bill. It keeps getting stalled in a committee headed by a outspoken anti-gunner. Convenient. :eyeroll:

What I mean is that the family still has the right to pursue a civil case against the man. Castle Doctrine prohibits that if he is found to be lawfully defending himself or his property.

good news!

That man was clearly defending himself and his wife, while letting these punks know this behavior will not be tolerated.

These thugs are now on notice from the old guy and the DA's office that the BS stops here and now.
