In a nutshell----DH is looking for work in Charlotte area. We would not move unless we had a job lined up. Currently live in Haywood Co. Looking for a rural area within a 50 minute commute (in a radius around Charlotte since we have know idea if and where he would be working) to Charlotte but also within 10 minutes of basic stores and necessities---groceries, pharmacies, doctors, vets, etc. Must also be within 30-40 minutes of a good hospital for a child with a heart condition. Will have kids in middle school and high school and 2 in college if/when we make a move. We have a large family and four of us drive, so parking for 5 vehicles is a must. We would also like a place to park our camper. We currently have a half an acre, but most of it is unuseable being on the side of a mountain. Neighborhood and school safety are top priority as well as being able to park all our cars and camper. I know there are houses out there under $150,000 and that is what we need to find. It doesn't have to the newest house on the block as long as it would be structurally sound. What cities/school systems would fit these requirements? I am posting this under Raleigh as well since we are looking into both cities. Thanks in advance for any help you can give! p.s. does anyone know what the requirements are to be a substitute teacher/teacher assistant and pre-k teacher assistant in this area as this is my area of work. ---thanks!

I will suggest my favorite more rural area with all your criteria

Check out the Unionville area in Union County. Although, depending on where your husband might find a job that could be too far out.

Maybe add a city to your list, Hickory. I heard it is a growing city with gorgeous houses outside of it for what you are looking for. Your husband might find a job there as well.

There are also parts of Fort Mill that is still close to Charlotte and may have what you want as well.
