Are you wanting to make them or buy them? Amelie's has award-winning petit fours - they are truly delectable. Their passion fruit is SO good. Actually, I've never had anything there I didn't like!

Paula Deen made Petit Fours and they didn't look too hard to make, that would even impress the guests even more. I also have a great recipe to make chocolate souffle, it's actually pretty easy and oh so yummy!

Here's a very simple one from Sainsbury's supermarket in England. FYI this is a great recipe site generally.

Not sure about *right now*, but I have seen petit fours at Trader Joe's in the past. Their baked goods are usually quite good, so it might be worth a shot. Good luck!

I used to know someone who owned a small bakery in downtown Mooresville. They told me once this was the dirty little secret of "local" baked goods in Charlotte. Almost every store buys frozen pre-made dough because they don't have the business time and/or skills to do it properly onsite. There are apparently a number of commercial vendors that cater specifically to this market. Your local baked good might have been mixed up and frozen months ago 1000s of miles from here.
This is very common with pastry and yeast products. Not so much with cakes but I do believe that most of the grocery stores do not bake their own cakes anymore.
