I don't know if the interviews are online now but the reason's range from not having the $$ for a church wedding, being embarrassed that they haven't done it, living together before a child and claiming that it was just a piece of paper. I think there was one couple that had planned a wedding twice but postponed because of a sick parent, then some type of job loss.

I think the goal is to encourage people to think about their situation and encourage them to do better. It really is supposed to be a celebration of people getting married for the right reasons and an event that brings attention to a national problem
And that is a good thing and I wish the couples much happiness and a good life as a married couple.

But again . . . it doesn't take a wedding to get married. And it doesn't take but a minister and two witnesses to get married in a church.

Very true and sure, it may work. I can't say they'll all fail.

But look at this flip side which seems to be marrying due to a sexual encounter. Take the child out of the picture, do those couples still marry. My guess is that more often than not they wouldn't. It doesn't seem too much different from those who have kids in order to save a marriage. How many times does that end up in disaster.

In this "baby daddy" case, if you have to be encouraged to "see the light" as opposed to seeing it yourself, I wouldn't take that as a good sign. Call me a cynic, but given the divorce rates being what they are already, I don't see many of these "baby daddy" things working....especially in these instances. It just seems like an opportunity to invite more turmoil than good.

It's a nice try but unless they married for each other as well as the children, bad move. Real bad move.
Marrying just for love doesn't work either. Like they say, no romance without finance. Several things have to be in place in order to make a successful marriage. As for this particular program, it seems to be geared towards couples with children who are already living together; hence, I'd say the love and financial support are already there, but they just haven't taken the plunge.

In the end, I'd say this is an enormous good. It does speak volumes about how we as a society have gotten to this point though.
