Right just like John F Kennedy, Martin Luther King, was just a conspiracy. Right I don't know a thing about how HOA operate but yet smart enough to avoid them all together as well as researched the facts. There are too things out there that would fill up pages and pages, probably too much for ones mind that can't hold all the information.

Obviously, you are a graduate of a very elite Ivy League Universitie. Do you think that HOAs are operated by plants from subversive nations? As an officer on a HOA board, do you think that the other members will use me to continue cutting all of that grass and then kill me? Could I be looking at another conspiracy like the ones you mentioned? Do you think that Obama will take over all HOA homeowners dues and use them to pay for national health service? Man, this communism is a horrible thing.

Why all the hate towards the communists and communism? Communist China makes all our goods like clothes, shoes, anything electronic, toys, house hold items, and even some food now. They no doubt made the computer you are viewing this on. Communist China loans us all the money so we can keep up the debt economy. It seems to me the communists have a pretty good economic system now and Americans have embraced it regardless to the old cold war rhetoric towards communism.

The communists really won the cold war as they own us now. The ironic thing about it is that we happily helped them to do it.

Lumbollo---I'm chuckling right now at how good you are on stirring up the pot. You must have gotten bored over the past couple of days and were waiting to throw this hook and bait for some of your friends to take.
lol

JFK, MLK, in an HOA thread?!
WTH?

Personally I love boats and RVs, but just don't want to look at other peoples' gear. Store it.
Boats I have had, I parked IN the garage per the HOA rules.
My HOA prevents sprawling gear in driveways and yards and I appreciate it.
Also no parking in the street or yard.

They also keep houses/yards/fences from being 'neglected'.
Letters go out when trim needs painted or lawns start to look rough.
If you can't keep such up, then maybe you should move into a rental/apt and not drag down our prop values.

Don't like your HOA? Move, or get on the board, they always need more people.
But I guess there are always crybabies, we had them in kindergarden.

We'll ignore the fact that modern China is not following the tenets of communism.

Are you so sure? Have a read of the People's Republic of China Constitution. Here is a copy straight from the PRC's government website http://english.gov.cn/2005-08/05/content_20813.htm You will want to read where the Communist Party of China is the ruling dictatorship in the Preamble and where Socialism is the the right of the people in Article 1.

American's generally find these terms offensive which is why I guess in this topic HOA were equated to the Communists. However it is the communists that make present day America possible. Kinda ironic in my book.

HOAs are actually a very democratic institution as nobody is forced to belong to one as they don't have to buy property where one is attached and they can't be retroactively imposed without a vote of the people. (namely for Historic districts)

"In 2002, the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, CCP opened its membership to the capitalist entrepreneurs; by definition, now the CCP is not a communist party. China gave up centralized planned economy; allows private properties; no longer provides its people jobs; huge numbers of poor within the society - the many penurious people are not the first priority of the CCP regime."

Yep, I'm sure. I didn't say they didn't CLAIM to be communist, I just said that their actions didn't reflect the dogma of their supposed social organization.

However, we're now far afield from the OP. HOAs are neither communist nor inherently evil. Does that mean some of them haven't run amok? Absolutely not. Does that mean that they ALL have run amok? Again, absolutely not.

It is bad enough Government interfering with our lives and then to add this on top. NO WAY. These link are just a few sample of hoard of reasons not to buy in a HOA's People worried about getto. Then don't live in a getto neighborhood. To me it is double taxes. I am sure when you need to grow food, you won't be able to when things become unglued.

This doesn't even make any damn sense. You say you're a libertarian, so you should respect that these people knowingly, voluntarily, entered an enforceable contract and ought to be held to it. Unless you're like any number of modern pseudo "Libertarians" who don't even understand the fundamental underpinnings of the philosophy, but labor under the mistaken notion that calling yourself such makes you seem more sophisticated than you really are.....ah well, if you're such a libertarian, then you should be comfortable with a private arbitration firm (which may or may not be neutral) settling these disputes, right?

This wasn't an HOA, this was an owner who actually lived in the park and during the last year before giving up the home. Like government doing whatever the hell it likes and do not listen to WE THE PEOPLE, believe me, if HOA's are not doing it now, they will be reporting to government the whereabout of everyone in the HOA, These people will become spy's for the government, I see it now. You laugh if you want, you won't be laughing when it happens. It will be like a domino affect. Governement is the leader of the rolling down affect to the state to the community.

Camp HOA's.

And there you have the average intellectual capacity of self-identified "libertarians." They're a smart bunch, eh?
