Saussy Burbank was a local home builder, but were bought by St. Joe Arvida out of Florida a few years back, but are in the process of being bought by a local group again, so I guess you could call them local builders once again. They have a very good reputation in the area.

There are hundreds of homebuilders here... custom/tract and national builders. They account for about half the sales in the market, all price ranges. Look online for a Charlotte New Home Guide. You'll be amazed

Are custom builders alot more expensive the cookie cutter builders??

I am not against using one. Just the stories I have heard about custom builders, is that you can go into purchasing a home for 250,000, and the builder can keep changing the price during the building process, do to unforeseen building issues with the home? something to that effect.

If this is not the case. Do custom builders offer house plans? Can you mention some in the area?
