I use apmex.com from time to time but the bulk of what I have is bought and traded on the open market under symbols SLV and GLD. These are gold and silver funds in which price is based off of the current prices of gold and silver.

Some people think SLV and GLD don't really have the assets to back up the paper. I had SLV for about 8 months - took a 70% profit and converted to the real thing.

You can try

Independence Coin
8700 Pineville Matthews # 580
Charlotte, NC 28226-4749
(704) 542-7554

Or go to a gun show... There's always someone there selling silver & gold coins.

Indeed. My opinion is that if you are going to go this route for the long term, you better take physical possession. Otherwise it is just ink on paper.

There is a gun, vault and coin shop here that the name is escaping me at the moment. We liked the people there and got some stuff at great prices a few years ago. There was a super walmart near it and it was near uptown....Sorry I can't think of the name at all!
