There used to be a dip in the road near my parent's house where the police did these. You only knew about it when you crested the hill and joined the line of cars. I always assumed they were looking for drunk drivers or people without licenses. Eventually subdivision entrances were built near the dip, and the police stopped using it.

It's been a long time since I've seen one of these in town, though.

Had one set up on Mallard Creek Rd, near Harris this morning. Only stopped cars driving north on Mallard Creek. Took 4 of them off the street, to run it. Cant help but think the time could have been better spent.

I went through one in the spring on Hillingdon Rd (which is a neighborhood road off of Carmel Rd). It was 4:30pm in the afternoon during the week. Very wierd but quick and painless.

What the CMPD needs to do is setup daytime checkpoints in areas of West Charlotte like off of Beatties Ford Road.

I have been stopped at insurance check points, drug check points, etc. I have things in order so I don't really worry about it. As Chicagocubs said, "they are very gelpful in eradicating drug dealers and other unsavory people".

They have been doing this here for decades. IMO, they need to do more of it.

Well, hell, if we let them do random residential searches, imagine how much crime could be averted!! Heck, lets just scrap the Constitution, and let whomever has power right now start governing as best they see fit! Hey, it worked in Nazi Germany!
