Any Upcoming Holiday Charity Events? (Charlotte: homes, club, food) - City-Data Forum

Our business would love to be able to participate in a local charity event this year.

Ideally, we would like the charity event that benefits children in some way.

Does anyone know any information on an event like this? We figure since Christmas is coming up, there would be something (or many things :-P) going on.

Hold a Food Drive for Second Harvest

Toys for Tots

Toys for Tots sounds good -- but technically I am in union county, not mecklenburg. Anything else?

Local Radio station Kiss 95.1's Ace & TJ show do a great Santa Clause type of project called Breaking and Entering Christmas. They do amazing things for nominated families in their listening regions. I love hearing the stories about what they give and how they go about doing it. A few of my co-workers and I are thinking about gathering donations and helping out this year also.

Why not find some nursing homes with a high percentage of elderly who have been shelved & forgotten? If you contact the homes, the staff knows this information. They would also be able to steer you to exactly what would be welcome. Many times your money will go further there because many would be thrilled with a token that would not impress a child.
