Thanks for this info! My husband and I are planning to move to Charlotte this october. We currently live in Milwaukee Wisconsin and we are both sick of the winters here. We have also had it with the crime, both violent and non violent. We've been keeping an eye on some houses in Charlotte and we just can't believe how much house and property you can get for so little. I grew up in the northeast and I love the east coast so I can't wait to get back. We hope to make this a long term place of residence. BTW, I love charlotte's airport!

vindaloo: Thank you for taking the time and putting so much effort in trying to explain so many issues regarding Charlotte and the surrounding areas. I am a 55+ active senior and together with my husband, adult kids, teenage granddaughter and 2 dogs am thinking about moving from Long Island to the Charlotte, perhaps Lake Norman area. Hopefully we will all find housing and jobs that will enhance our lives. Long Island has become too expensive for us to remain here. I receently came to Charlotte to look around and your post gave me lots to think about as well. It is comforting to know that there are still people out there that care enough to share their feelings....nagative AND positive.
