Before people get too excited, the Average First Frost Date (killing frost for planting) for Charlotte is November 5, +/- 6 days. It's time for this kind of weather here.

One thing you will learn, here in the Piedmont area ... it's very rare for us to get snow if it hits the NC mountains first ... but if you see it snowing in Atlanta ... get ready ... get to the grocery store and buy your milk and bread.

^^^^^^^^indeed!!!

The first winter that I was here (the Jan before Hugo hit in Sept), there was this massive snowfall...couple of feet Being a Chicagoan, I was out shoveling my driveway (gravel) with a dirt shovel. (we are fined in the city if you don't shovel...I had only been here three weeks, so, I didn't know any better!! )

There have been years where we had 8" snowfalls weekly for a month and years where we just had a big one...18"....and, then, the last few...practically
nothing.

All you Chicagoans...and north eastern-ers...keep those noses in the air!!

wow, Raleigh's average first frost is October 28, significantly earlier than Charlotte's. That is sort of shocking to me.

no, western NC normally gets some snow in October. There have even been major snowfalls in the NC high country in October.
