It was better than St. Anger, but I'll agree nowhere near as good as their earlier stuff. And the quality of the recording was horrid - too compressed and too loud. There is a fan-made re-mix floating around the web that sounds much better.

I like their old stuff, I've seen them about half a dozen times over the years, but I can probably count on one hand the number of songs they have done from "Load" onward that I actually like.

Ah well...they do put on a great show so I'm sure anyone who is a fan had a blast the other night. But that was Sunday. Now its Wednesday and time for Social Distortion at Amos

The mix is not great I give you..but the hard sound is back and the new songs sound great in concert. Problem for Metallica is their old fans just won't let go of the old albums and have an open mind......Let go!@ To each his own..

I listened to it a couple of times. I may have to listen to it some more for it to grow on me.

You should..it took me a while but I love it now..reminds me of And Justice For All...For the record I am mostly a fan of old Metallica, but this newest album was just phenomenal in my opinion.
