What happened to Gary Williams? I know the station changed the lineup, and I heard the show when Gary said good bye before the Super Bowl, but never looked into why he's gone?

Anyone know?

He's on a new XM radio station. WFNZ co-host moves to national stage (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/breaking/story/498052.html - broken link)

Quote:
Williams is leaving to host a 6-10a.m. daily sports talk show on Sirius and XM satellite radio. His show will begin Monday.

“Gary has been offered what he thinks is a great opportunity and he asked us to let him out of his contract so he can pursue it. We did not want to hold him back,” said D.J. Stout, operations manager and program director at WFNZ

I thought he was great but it seems he had a better opportunity. Also, I think he is from the northeast and this allowed him to move closer to home. Hopefully he doesn't have to wake up so early now!

The morning show on FNZ that replaced him is pathetic... unlistenable and sophomoric. I feel sorry for Jim Celania trying to carry the water now.

I used to be a devoted listener during my ride to work each morning and thereafter in my office. I can't stand the morning radio show now. Plus, not only is the morning show garbage, but 4 hours of Frank and Buck is too much. WFNZ really needs to reassess their lineup. I'd love to hear Mike and Mike in the morning again.

Mike and Mike are not so good now - they think the sports world revolves around them...The morning show with this guy mac is horrible too...he definitely doesnt have a voice for radio, and his laugh...nope...wont listen....I can catch Gary Williams mornings on XM and also Steve Czaban is pretty awesome...

i don't know the obsession with broadcasting the same morning drive and afternoon drive on 2 stations in the same market, surely they could add mike and mike to one of em...even though if I want to hear 'em, i get em on xm/sirius...seems like there's some REAL BAD program directors in the market...

I REALLY miss the page with Gary and crew. I like Chris McClain, but not in the mornings. His show should have stayed mid-day. Outside of NFL talk, the mid-day show is killing me.

Well, mid-days is Cowherd time....and if you can get it, Jim Rome on 790 out of high point...Also, can get Dan Patrick from 9-12(xm) - Being that I drive all day, I couldn't survive without XM, and streaming on my laptop with a wireless card..cause you cant complain about the radio quality here, cause there is none..

One of the great things about being in the south is we have more options that Romo, Cowherd and Mike and Mike, to this poster's great delight.

I like McClain, I like Frank and Buck, I like the four horsemen, I like Packman. Having a region-specific show is a must for this market... even though we have more than our fair share of northern transplants the market won't stand for 12 hours of daily sports programming geared for New England sports fans.
