PODS Insurance--Worth it or not?
We're renting a PODS pod for about a couple of months or so. Is it worth it to get it insured through PODS?
Thoughts?

Depends on the rate. If you're paying a lot; no. If it's reasonable; maybe.

Is it going to be stored at your home and if so would that be covered on home owner insurance then I guess the next question would be if not stored at your home has the place that is storing have had any problems with break ins and do you have to sign any waivers they are not liable for loss or damage. And last kinda depends on what the items stored mean to you if you find it worth the cost of the insurance.

If it is worth spending the money to store it (and NOT covered under your homeowner's insurance) why wouldn't you spend the $35 to insure it? It seems like a small price to pay for anything of personal value, no?

I agree that $35 seems more than worth it, if it isn't covered under homeowners ins. Best of luck with it all. My BIL and SIL were very happy with the PODS.

My two cents....we used PODS for exactly two months and had them stored at the PODS facility. It is worth the extra $35/month if you know it is for a definite period of time. If you don't pay they are not liable for anything that happens to your things. Our front-loading washer was damaged because they dropped the POD when it was being transported. You never know. $70 out of pocket is way better than paying for a new washer. Good luck. PODS really was a great company to work with.

With State Farm (who I represent!) in NC your personal items are covered under your Homeowner's policy for the named perils. The named perils are: Fire or Lightning, Windstorm or hail, Explosion, Riot or civil commotion, aircraft, vehicles, smoke, vandalism and malicious mischief, theft, volcanic eruption, falling objects, weight of ice, accidental discharge of water from plumbing etc, automatic fire protective sprinkler system, freezing of a household appliance, and sudden damage from artificially generated electical current.
But the movers dropping it, you are on your own.
