I would concentrate on looking at Uptown and Southend. Tons of stuff to do and you can use the Lynx light rail for transportation!

Thanks for the advice guys. Has anyone heard anything about Birkdale Village? My friends and I are looking to go down in Mid November to take some necessary steps towards making this a reality. From everyones advice, I should look into:
Uptown
Dilworth
Birkdale
Southend

Thanks for the help.

Birkdale may be more family focused & less young/fun than you might want. It's a fairly long way from most of the places that people go out, which are the neighborhoods people have already mentioned. It's also not very central, so you could have a longer commute depending on where you ended up getting a job. (Full disclosure: I also find the fake small town feel offputting, but plenty of people like it.)

The other neighborhoods are more central, so location/commute is less a factor in finding a job. If you want to live in a larger apartment complex, Southend or Uptown. If you want to rent a house or duplex, Elizabeth or Plaza Midwood. Dilworth has a little of both.

I personally wouldnt live around Birkdale. It is too far from the center city. It's in Huntersville and if you were to get a job in the ballantyne area you would have one heck of a commute. If your going to want to go out and really enjoy the nightlife in Charlotte you will want to live near or in uptown. Just my opinion.
