S. Charlotte doctor (GP) with weekend hours for sick visits?
Anybody know of a good family practitioner/internist that has Sat and/or Sun hours for sick visits? We like our current FP fine, but we seem to get sick on the weekend a lot and urgent care/ER visits are awful. Our old GP in PA had a setup with limited weekend hours, and it was so so so convenient. Hoping something exists like that around here.

Not saying it doesn't exist, but in all my time in Charlotte I've never known a doc other than my pediatrician years ago to have Saturday hours, and never on a Sunday - sorry.
If you get sick on weekends you should be able to just call your doctors office and whoever is on call can help you (as long as you have been current on your physicals). |

Carmel Family Physicians is open on weekends for sick visits, but you have to be an established patient.

They sure are! Saturdays and Sundays from 9-12. You can also schedule lab appointments on those days. Some great docs there too!! |

Thank you so much, both hoagie and lanigan! That wouldn't be too far away, either. It just always seems to be Saturday when something happens. I will call them ASAP and get established as a patient. Any recs on good docs there? |

If I had to pick one doctor there, I would choose either Dr Sappenfield or Dr Wrinkle. There are 10 doctors and 2 PAs at the practice- all of them are good. If you dont mind being seen by someone other than your primary, you can get in to see one of them on most any day of the week- same day appointments are VERY common. The docs do rotate weekend coverage, so you wont see the same one week to week, but again, they are all good.

My Doctor is DR. Mueller in Blakeney and he gives his cell number to call on the weeeknd! When my son got the flu it was on a Sunday and he called me back right away! He is THE BEST Dr. we have ever had!!!

Thank you all for the good recs. I had no idea about Carmel FPs having some Sat hours. It would be worth establishing one's self as a patient. I thought everyone here funneled thru/ Urgent Cares on the weekends. Now I have good info to pass on.
