Hi everyone,

I am going to be moving to Charlotte in a few weeks and am trying to find a one bedroom apartment in a safe area (single, female, 25 y/o) I pretty much know nothing about Charlotte and the different areas, and the more I am trying to research the more frustrated I get! hehe
I don't want to be right in the "uptown area" ( I think that's what it's called ) you know...where all of the busy busyness is! I would love to have a community type environment but not too far from the busyness and the hospital (I guess not more than 20-25 min drive to work)-and maybe near a shopping center with coffee shops, shopping, food. My price range is ~700 but the $650 would be even better! If anyone could help I would be so appreciative! <-- haha, thanks!

Lori, congrats on the job, and welcome to Charlotte!

Look for things advertised in either the South Park area, the Arboretum or perhaps Matthews. I really like the Gallaria Village apartments right on the Charlotte/Matthews line. Commute would be good and you could walk to everything from WalMart to the movies, including Caribou Coffee

You can get a one bedroom for under $700. http://www.galleriaapts.com/Apartments/module/property_info/property (broken link)[id]/10252/

When I drink coffee I much prefer Caribou to Starbucks myself

have you ever heard of Providence Court Apartments? I found these and it seems like a really good deal, but almost too good to be true. Sometimes pictures can be tricky!

Also I noticed a place called Auston Woods, have you heard of it? If so does it seem to be in a decent/safe area?

I don't live too far from there, and have a friend who lives there. I don't know about interiors or details about the complex. However, they look really nice from the outside, and the area is great.

Providence Court is nice. You'd be right down the road from the Arboretum, which is a shopping area with everything you need including a movie theater

I don't think you'd have as many conveniences nearby at Auston Woods.

Selwyn Village Condominiums off of Selwyn Avenue is safe and in a good neighborhood in Myers Park and very close to Presby Hospital. Lots of singles live there.
