Do you know what spec level you got?

There is where I think the price difference is coming into play.

The only problem is that they tell you that you have to use countrywide, in order to recieve the 50% off kitchen. Maybe it would be better to use another mortgage company or refinance in a year or two.

I was never told what spec I was receiving.

You should have received the spec level sheet with you intial paperwork that you sign (the contract) if you don't have one you need to request it.

We have spec level 3 which was revised.

It states that cabinets are now flat panel
smooth ceilings Now standard
Hardwood foyer now standard
Phone jack now standard

Is spec level 3 the reason for the discount.

A lower spec level is why the base price of the homes have dropped. in my house I have marable around the tub and shower and thatis standard and that is spec level 4. Basically you get less things included.

Yes. I have spec level 4 as well. And that is correct; they lowered the prices, but dropped the spec level down so you are paying less for the house , but more in options if you want a fireplace, a garden tub, etc.

I still cannot believe popcorn ceilings are standard. I had to pay 1.5 in upgrades for smooth ceilings...lol

What deal is better the upgrades or the lower price? I guess one would have to add it all up. Does anyone know what upgrades are worth the money and what upgrades are just a waste? I heard that 9 foot ceilings are a must. Would it be smart to take advantage of the 50% off kitchen and get the best of everything like gormet kitchen and granit counter tops?
