Really? I would never have guessed Good Shepherd would be, or have, a contemporary worship service. Thanks for that nugget-- they're right around the corner from me.
This weekend is gonna be pretty cool. I suggest the middle service (10:!5). That one is the most packed = most fun.
If you come my name is Todd, I will be the bass player. DEF come introduce yourself.
Hey, Todd. Thanks so much for plugging your church out here on the forum. We attended there today and really enjoyed it. I appreciate you putting it out there for all of us newcomers. Very helpful My kids LOVED it.
If anyone is looking for a Bible-centered Christ exalting church and has a heart for church planting, check out Enjoying God Fellowship. We are just getting started here in Charlotte and our goal is to exalt Christ and engage the culture. We'd love to have you.
Several of you have mentioned Southbrook and their great worship. We attended once. We were about 10 minutes late and there wasn't any worship going on. Is that normal or is there usually more worship? We came from a very large Vineyard Church that had a half hour of worship and about 20 minutes of sermon with an alter call at the end of every service. The worship was incredible. We had Matt Redmond leading worship a couple of times. Our normal worship team had several cd's out. They were amazing. Does anyone know of any churches that would be similar to this? Thanks!!
I hope nobody gets offended but I think the main purpose of finding a new Church is the MESSAGE, not all the "FLUFF" of coffee etc. Yes good Hymns and Songs are important but that should not be what determines the Church you decide on bringing your family to in my opinion. Yes an excellent children's ministry is important, but if the message isn't wholly Bible based is all a certain Church has to offer worth it, just a question to ask yourselves. It may be wonderful to have a Pastor who plays the guitar but in my opinion a Pastors emphisis shouldn't be on playing the guitar, it should be on spreading the Gospel to the Flock! I guess I may be "old fashioned" in my opinions and I am not trying to ridicule anyone's choice on a Church service but a Pastors job is not playing the guitar, it's feeding the flock. The Message should come first, is CHRIST first or is the "FLUFF" first? Just my opinion, again I am not here to insult or to judge.GOD BLESS!
Great family, not too big, plenty of kids and a great program, awesome missions opportunities, excellent men's and women's ministries, drama on many Sundays. It's all about discipleship and reaching the lost and the Message that teaches you how. Harvest is very fundamental and we believe the Bible is the literal Word of God. Come see for yourself!

IMHO, the best worship service in all of Charlotte is Central Church of God. It's too far for us to drive now, but with such an awesome worship team and incredible pastor, Loran Livingston, you will surely get your soul food.

Hi,
Thansk for the info on the two churches. Are they both family friendly where we could have our kids in service with us if we wanted to? Is one more casual than the other? We have four children between 2-11 so I prefer more casual right now. If I had to get everyone dressed in nice clothes we would probably be ready in time for a nightime service. It seems like it takes forever to do anything. Thanks!!

Harvest would definitely be more casual, although you don't have to wear a "Sunday Suit" to Central either, if you know what I mean. Pastor Livingston actually encourages parents to keep their children in service, as they need to hear the message too. Harvest does as well, but gives children the opportunity to go to their designated classes after the worship part of the service.
Since Harvest is MUCH smaller than Central (I'd say about 400 members), you may feel more comfortable at Harvest. It is VERY family oriented. Too bad I didn't see this thread earlier, they are just finishing up VBS. However, there is a family picnic this Sunday if you would be interested.
PM if you would like to know more!
