Default Tree down this morning...tree service?

Must have been an ugly storm last night. I woke up this morning and there is a 35ft. pine tree laying down across the other trees in my back yard.

I'm a bit short on cash and live in North Charlotte. Anyone recommend a good tree service at good price?

Thanks

OK. We just called Heartwood Tree Service (seen them on these forums before) and they stated that it was $330 per man hour. #3 man team and it would take two hours at least. We don't have the money for that....
I have seen posts on this forum for much more reasonable prices.

We were out looking at the tree trying to see if we can do this ourselves. After reading on the internet, it turns out that trying to fell a tree that is leaning on other trees is the most dangerous situation.

sigh

For this kind of job it seems like you could probably go with a cheaper service. I have used Heartwood to take down my existing trees and they have always done a great job. I have heard horror stories about other services.

Seems like your job has a lot more room for error.

I use Kiker Tree Service. They did a great job. We had about 13 trees cut down and stumps ground for a very reasonable price. It was about 1.5 yr ago, but I've recommended them to others. Often I find if I mention I am getting other bids for the work when they come to give me an estimate, the prices are more reasonable.

Well, we ended up assessing the situation for about 4 hours and went and got a great little electric Poulan chainsaw from Lowes. I wasn't sure if we could do it and it could have been potentially danagerous since the tree was wedges on top of other trees but we did get it down.

It seems that the potential cause of death is likely pine bark beetles. About 3 other pine trees in the yard are leaking sap. I'm not sure how to identify or stop them. Anyone had issues with beetles and successfully controlled them? The remaining trees are sill alive and I would really like to save them.
