I will say this again. Your glowing opinion of the team and management does not match up to everyone else's. We have established that we are all entitled to opinions, Baybook. I am merely pointing out that you seem to see the team and management in much more positive ways than the rest of us.
I believe you do website development and I was genuinely wondering if you worked for the organization or one of their affiliates, as that would explain why perhaps you have a better insight on how the organization is run - and that you understand aspects about the organization that we don't. I was not putting you down. I sincerely wondered if you had insight that the rest of us lacked.

First off..my name isn't "Luv". K'?
Secondly, I DID read what you posted, which is why I wondered why you told him he'd never heard of the Hornets, when it was obvious he had.
And as far as me posting something that someone might actually want to read? Well that's rich coming from you
No need to respond w/ one of your snarky comments to this either.

Maybe I'm cheap, but going to a bobcats game is not cheap. Yes, I can sit in the upper level and bring my binoculars, however for 2 tickets in the lower level corners, you're going to spend a minimum of $100 at the game for 2 tickets.....
Professional sports (prices) have been out of control for a long time IMO....

Well, you and I both may be cheap, lol.
Since I really am not entranced with the Bobcats, I am not likely to feel good about making the effort and spending the money. If I were a big fan, I would probably feel differently about spending the money, even if I thought it was a high price to pay for those seats. I have been willing to pay big bucks in the past for NBA tickets w/ other teams.
I think a lot of folks are like me - they are not enthusiastic supporters of this team, for whatever reasons. On the other hand, it may be a lot of folks just don't feel comfortable spending the $$$$.
I have felt the team (and management) were not marketed well from Day One - something that I personally feel can't be blamed on the media. I think that is a problem w/in the organization.

Once again, URBAN, you have managed to explain what I couldn't verbalize. THANK YOU. I think you hit it right on many of your points. We did love the Hornets and they seemed engaged with the community. I have read things that have been posted about the Bobcats being very kind to folks in need in this region, but that's the thing - it is all secondhand. We felt we KNEW the Hornets. We felt they were proud to be here and cared about their fans.
I guess I just don't feel the love coming from either Johnson or his team.

Fair enough...but then again, some people need to be booed. Bob Johnson is one of them. Actually, what he needs is a smack upside the head and a swift kick in the rear.
As far as I'm concerned, the Checkers are the only sports team that plays in Cable Box that matters.

We don't go to Bobcat games either. We went once last season. My boss let us use the corporate box. It still cost me over $150 to provide hot dogs, chicken wings and sodas to the four kids I brought to the game (minimum servings). The NBA and Bobcats in particular are not a good way for me to spend my time and money.
I'd much rather go watch the Checkers or go to a concert/play at Blumenthal.

In all fairness to baybook, he was simply stating his opinions based on his experience. In looking back through the thread, I'm not sure what got people all riled up against him (her?) in the first place. Anyways, if he has had a good experience with the Bobcats, then good for him. Many other people have as well, or they wouldn't be renewing their season tickets.
I have already expressed my strong dislike for the ownership group. That having been said, I don't cheer for the owners, I cheer for the team, I cheer for the city. If I go, I'm paying for my entertainment, not to fill the pockets of anyone - like or dislike.
Am I as excited about this team as I was the Hornets? No, not even close, for reasons stated in previous posts. However, if they can develop a team that can compete in the east, I'm sure I'll jump on the bandwagon, with most of the rest of the city. Does that make Charlotte a bad sports town? No. It makes it normal. Most cities are only going to support a winner. That's just natural. That is nowhere near being exclusive to Charlotte. Our time and money are too valuable to spend on sub-par performances.
This city could again become a very good NBA city. Winning may not cure all, but it could cure most. And for all those people that are basketball purists and hate the NBA style, our own team is as close as you will get to "real" basketball in the NBA. They play hard, they pay defense, they move the ball, they play unselfish, they play as a team, etc..
Damn, I think I just talked myself into going to the next home game.....
