Thumbs down Charlotte Mecklenberg - Parks and Recreation/Eparks Online - Waste of Tax Payer Money

Mecklenberg County Parks and Recreation.

There are a lot of parks and recreational activities which can be found on the Parks and Recreation website and in the Get Going Guide...

BUT BE FOREWARNED: The web site is useless as far as the eparks online user account, registering for classes, etc. The are numerous broken links and errors on the site. The user guide does not correspond to the pages on the site. Calls and emails to customer service go unanswered. If you want to register for a class your best alternative is to go to the individual REC centers.

why not call Park & Rec and then call the County and let them know.....
I don't think the links are broken etc. just to bust someone's chops.

I've had the same problems with their website and contacted the webmaster with a detailed explanation of the problem and got no response. Their website used to work well (i.e. you could sign up for classes online with no problem) but then they changed their database this past July and that's when all the problems started. You can call 311 to sign up for classes but have to give payment info over the phone, which I'm not comfortable with at this time. So sign up in person is the only other option.

Write 'em! Call 'em! Tell them that your tax dollars are supposed to be at work on that website but it is in a mess.

They will probably just tell you they are understaffed and haven't gotten around to it.

I have been told that individual departments in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg government are not allowed to run their own websites. They are required to have the centralized city/county IT department do it for them.
