My guess is Yes. I can count on my taxes going up and many more useless employees with attitudes manning city governmental offices. Afterall, he is a democrat. I also believe he will need to hire armored police vehicles to escort his trolley from Five Points to Eastland.

Absolutely new Mayor, new Taxes.
More pet projects that even Mayor Pat could shake a stick at.

Not sure about jobs, in case you did not know, the Mayor of CLT is a part-time gig.

We might be better off with helicopter man

The rumor I hear is that he'd like to make the entire City Manager's office an appointed office...which, if true, likely means firings followed by politically fat friend appointments. Not good if you ask me. The City Manager's office is supposed to be a buffer between the political crap and the daily operations of the City. The last thing you need is political pressure on EVERY aspect of how a city runs. You think the gub'ment can be slow or unreasonable now? Just wait.

Well, he was able to secure a high paying job for his wife at DSS. Maybe he'll do the same for the rest of us.

Yep, there will be more jobs. And what is so marvelous about that - they will be bureaucratic jobs and folks will get on the payroll and be impossible to fire, even if they are incompetent.

Just keep watching . . . it is so predictable it makes my head spin.

Just for fun, I am going to go find a list of all the not-for-profits that the city supports or that United Way supports. In 2 years . . . the money will have been substantially diverted f/ other funds into funding certain pet projects . . . and yes, jobs will be created, funded by city donations. I am gonna take a head count and see how many new positions were created due to shifting funds around to these organizations. I know this will happen; I have seen it before.

So yes . . . there will be jobs. And don't worry - you won't have to be the most qualified candidate (at least - with experience and/or education) to get them, lol.

And those of you who want to argue over my statement . . . there is nothing to argue about-now. Just give it two years, then come back here, and I will be glad to discuss my prediction and see how accurate I was.

I would think that you could expect a small number of new jobs in Foxx's office. Appointments may change also. That is the reason why they are appointed positions. If you work at the pleasure of Joe City Official, you know that things "may" change when there is a new sherrif in town. City Hall is not going to change drastically because there is a new mayor.

It's really interesting how quickly people resort to rhetoric rather than fact or even well thought out opinion when discussing this type of topic. Like he "secured" a well paying job for his wife at DSS. That facts don't support that statement. Like the fact that a new director was brought in to DSS to fix the mess of problems in that agency. Like the fact that she hired a woman that she had worked with at a prior agency. Like the fact that the position wasn't posted publically so that members of the public could apply for it. You may not like that people in high places create positions and hire people that they "know" for those positions. That's fair, but very differeent from saying the man got his wife a job at DSS.

So what are you saying? It would be okay if we said that the woman was back-doored into the position b/c of cronyism but not nepotism?

No matter what you call it, I'm confident you'll see more of it now that Foxx is in office.
