I am currently looking for a new job as an elementary teacher. I'm considering public schools and private schools in the Union County area, and I'd like to focus on schools that don't have a religious emphasis. Are there any schools that you could recommend I look at?
Most of the private schools I can think of are closer to town than Union County, but the British American School is close in Ballantyne. I don't think Charlotte Latin, Providence Day, or Charlotte Country Day are religiously affiliated, either. PDS and CCDS are closer in, but Latin is fairly close to Union County.
Thank you so much! I'm open to looking in other counties, and I'll definitely check out the schools mentioned. I actually live in Meck. County, so applying to schools here won't be a problem. I'm not sure how far Gaston County/Gastonia is to S. Charlotte, but I'll look into it. Thanks again everyone!

Well, the cream of the crop would be Charlotte Country Day, Charlotte Latin and Providence Day School. Just be aware though, most of the best ones require advanced masters degrees (or that you be working on one)
Charlotte Latin School is by far the best private school around.
I don't know if "by far" can be used to differenciate between some of our top private schools. Looking at Providence Day, Country Day, Charlotte Latin, I would not say one stands out to any real degree above the others. Arguements could be made for each of them being slightly better but definitely not "by far".
Latin,PDS and CCDS are referred to as the "Big Three" they are all equal in status but have a little something different that makes each of them appealing in their own way.
