I had my braces removed ~10 years ago and lost my retainer ~6 years ago, and since I have not worn my retainer in that time my top teeth have moved slightly out of place.
I met with my orthodontist today, and everything was 'perfect' with the exception of a small gap between my top middle teeth. He gave me an estimate to close the gap using Invisalign Express, which was much higher than I anticipated. I inquired about an alternative to invisalign, and he told me he could create a retainer but it would be bulky and I wouldn't be able to wear it enough to help.
Can anyone recommend an orthodonist in Charlotte who could give me an estimate for a method other than invisalign (assuming there is an alternative method)?
I had this same problem and was given the option of Invisalign (to fix the slight problems) or a nightime retainer (to hold everything where it is now). Given the large price difference I decided to go with the retainer and try to prevent future movement.
I had this same issue my whole life, and finally I got braces right after I got married to close the gap. It took almost 2 years of shifting the teeth around and the old metallic braces. Now either I was completely cheated or this Invisalign is not going to fully close the gap.
I don't have any recommendations for orthodontist for adults. Just wanted to share that as an adult I had the gap closed but with full braces, to give you a different opinion.
There isnt really another way. Your other option may be to do bonding or veneers on the front teeth to close the difference. Bonding would be your cheapest option, but depends on the space, if it is too large you would end up with two oversized central incisors. Veneers could help but you would probably need to do the front four teeth at least, and then you are getting to the cost of braces anyway. See what your general dentist says about bonding and if the space is too big.
Are standard metal braces generally less or more expensive than invisalign? I wouldnt mind having them again if it meant a less expensive way to get my teeth back to where they were 10 years ago when I originally had my braces removed.
I take it youve had standard metal braces before? Are you exploring other options now, or will you go the invisalign route?
Well.... I started the invisalign on 11/2014 I should be completely done in 03/2016 and paid $5,000.. wow
