South Charlotte neighborhoods to check out?
We're heading down to my sister's house in south charlotte for Thanksgiving and likely moving back to NC after the school year.
So for the trip, we're going to do some cruising around a few neighborhoods.
Anyone want to recommend some "regular" 200-230K neighborhoods in south charlotte along 16 and/or Rea rd? Probably below 51. Wooded lots, homes built before 1995.
(We've already lived in a brand new development in Waxhaw so not going that route.)
Fun and friendly is essential (we're not afraid to put 'em back with the neighbors, in other words.) I like to throw parties.
But most important is having a nice place for our kids (5 and 7).
It's all about them.
Not looking to buy/rent yet so probably being a little more specific than I need to be. Just asking for recommendations based on your own personal experience(s) so we can at least narrow our focus a bit.
Thanks!
Greg

Greg, there are nothing but nice places to live along those two stretches of road, just not so many in your price range.
The good thing is, you are already familiar with the area and have plenty of time to locate the right place for your family. I would suggest you broaden your search range to include Stallings and Indian Trail - you'll have more neighborhoods in your price range to look at

What about subs like Raintree, Raeburn, Landen Meadows? I know raintree is sort of mixed from what i remember. I like Touchstone.
Just looking for ideas so not completely set on price right now. (say "200's")
Thanks

I am a fan of Raintree because of its great location and school assignments. However, you have to be a fan of the late 70's and 80's architecture to live there (which I am, it's just not something everyone will like!).
I also like Raeburn and it's great location, though the lots can be small it seems to be a good family neighborhood.
I am not too crazy about Landen Meadows. I remember when they were building it that I did orginally like it a lot. However, many of the homes there were built with masonite siding and over time they have not all been well maintained. So the homes are hit or miss for me. I personally prefer a neighborhood where the homes are more uniformly maintained.
Touchstone has a great location too - just not the top school assignments (though not bad ones!) some other south Charlotte neighborhoods do
