hELLO, My family is interested in moving to Nc by next summer and we are trying to decide on a good location for our children that have a great school district and is family/children friendly area. We were told that Union County is the best for schools. Can anyone give us some incite as to where would be a good place to make a home? We have been looking around indian trail radius....like matthews, monroe, waxhaw,,etc. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Matthews is part of Mecklenburg County, so you wouldn't get the great Union County schools. I'm from Weddington, which is just a few miles outside Charlotte and in Union County with some of the best, if not the best, school system in Union County (Weddington Elem., Middle, and High). Waxhaw is also a good area that's lately become really developed (which is several miles past Weddington, further away from Charlotte). The whole Union County area is one of the fastest-growing counties in the country, which unfortunately (for home-sellers) has led to an over-development of neighborhoods...but that is now great news for you, since you have the opportunity to get an awesome deal on a really great house. Bottom line: I strongly recommend the Weddington area, since it gives you the best of both worlds (rural/suburban feel with the convenience of Charlotte just a few miles away, and one of the best school systems in the state). Hope this helps!

Some parts of Matthews is Union County. The zip code for this area is 28104. Waxhaw is not very far from Charlotte. I live in Waxhaw and can get to Charlotte (Rea Rd) in 5 minutes.Weddington can be very far out depending on where you move to in Weddington. Weddington and Waxhaw are both very nice areas! Schools are GREAT!

Just be aware that NC's unemployment is currently 11% and rising...you shouldn't expect to just plop down here and snap up a job. You didn't say whether you were being transferred down here or just moving on a whim.
