Cantina 1511
Big Daddy's Burger Bar
Momma Ricotta's
(sp?)

Was scanning channels a week or so ago and there was a program on that featured the above restaurants. I was a wee bit distracted but, I *believe* it was indicated that the same gentleman owned all three. (Wish I'd been paying closer attention now!) Anyway, I was intrigued. And as it was very late night/early morning, my stomach was grumbling as some of the dishes and cooking techniques were described.

I think (2) of them were listed as being on East BLVD. Anyway, I made a note in my BB that I'd check them out in the near future.

Just curious - anyone have insight/opinions on any of them? Are they worth seeking out?

Thanks!

Sara

Cantina 1511 - Upscale Mexican. It is pretty good but slightly pricey.

Big Daddy's Burger Bar - Great burgers and delicious buns. They use grass fed beef which makes a big difference. Definitely more expensive than 5 Guys, Cookout, etc. but not more than most other places. Get the duck fat fries if you go on Sat or Sun.

Mama Ricotta's - The best Italian in Charlotte (IMO). My favorite is the Butternut Squash Ravioli. PROTIP: Make a reservation through OpenTable Restaurants and Restaurant Reservations. If you make a certain amount of reservations you get a gift card to the restaurant of your choice.

I ate at Big Daddy's and loooooved it. Had a burger that came with a fried egg on it (and pesto, maybe?), and it was indescribably delicious. A little pricey, but worth it for a special treat.

If it were legal I would marry Pikes. The place is pretty much perfect in my opinion.

Wish we'd checked out Big Daddy's for my son's 16th birthday yesterday! I won't bother saying where we did go but oh, such a major disappointment and too much $$ spent for lackluster food.

All 3 have excellent food! I've not been disappointed yet. Different price points depending on lunch or dinner. I would recommend any of them.

Cantina has these shrimp and bacon soft taco things are sooo good! They serve it w/ some type of slaw that is magically delicious too.

Big Daddys is awesome.

Haven't been to Mamma Ricottas yet.

I love the Cantina and think the prices are very reasonable for the basics- tacos, enchiladas, etc. Of course there are more expensive options. I would not recommend the guacamole- $9 for nothing impressive....
